Dear voter,
This election brings hope of a new way forward to a city and a community
• where neighborhoods can plan for a great future,
• where our children can be certain of having clean, affordable drinking water,
• where citizens are included in decisions and
• where we make sure that spending is transparent and efficient.
The ideas I propose here are a work in progress, and an example of my approach to government. Good ideas should come forward for an open, public discussion with everyone respected and heard. My vision is a city government where citizens have an active role in decision-making, rather than merely given brief opportunities to comment. These ideas are based on discussions I've had with thousands of voters, extensive research into open and transparent government practices elsewhere, as well as my experience as a leader on the County Council.
This is a starting point for a robust public discussion on a new direction for Bellingham. I'd like to hear from you about your thoughts on this proposal, as well as any ideas or suggestions you may have. Please send me an email at team@danmcshane.com. I look forward to discussing ideas and proposals with you, and with the City Council. My goal is that with determined leadership and citizen involvement, Bellingham will see steady improvement where it matters most—in our neighborhoods, our drinking water and throughout our community.
You can count on me to bring that leadership, new energy and a new way forward to Bellingham.
Best regards,
Dan McShane
